Area Center
for Anxiety is a multidisciplinary group of clinicians who provide treatment
for anxiety. We provide assessment,
medication management, therapy, and educational counseling in order to provide
our clients with the best treatment possible.
Our work is guided by the latest research on anxiety and we use
effective treatment interventions. Below

Keith Sutton, Psy.D. - Psychologist Director Dr. Keith Sutton provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat panic disorder/panic attacks, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, test anxiety, and post traumatic stress in adolescents and adults. He also utilizes Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure with Response Prevention, Prolonged Exposure, and Barlowe's approach to treating panic disorder. He received his training through the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy Institute, the Beck Institute, and Edna Foa's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety where he took workshops in REBT, CBT, and Exposure with Response Prevention. |
![]() | Amy Honigman, Ph.D. - Psychologist Dr. Honigman provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat mood and anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, test anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress in adolescents and adults. With extensive training in neuropsychology and mindfulness, Dr. Honigman uses evidence based treatment including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Self-Compassion Focused Therapy. She has also taught and supervised graduate students in psychology. Dr. Honigman received her clinical training at Oakland VA, Concord Vet Center, San Francisco General Hospital, and Gladman Hospital. She was director of Neuropsychology at the Greenery in Pacifica. |
![]() | Bart Rubin, Ph.D.- Psychologist Dr. Rubin works with couples, families, children and adults and his areas of specialty include family/couples therapy, ADHD, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, trauma, child abuse, supervision and training. He has been teaching and training familiy/child therapists for the past 25 years. Currently, he is Adjunct Professor at Alliant International University-San Francisco. He is a certified trainer and supervisor in Brief Strategic Family Therapy and is certified in both Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy and EMDR. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Family Institute of Pinole (FIP), one of the leading couples/family therapy training programs in the country, the Founder and Executive Director of the Trauma Center for Family and Community Violence of the Family Institute of Richmond, and is the Past President of the Association of Family Therapists of Northern California. |
Davida Cohen - MFT Davida
Cohen, MFT, hasworked with adults, families and children for over 30
years. She has trained and supervised therapists about working with
traumatic events, both single incident and complex developmental trauma.
The latter, is trauma that is chronic, with multiple stressors and
experienced as a child. It has effects from childhood into adult life.
She works with the modalities of EMDR, EFT, mindfulness, and creative

![]() | Jonathan Horowitz, Ph.D. -Psychologist Jonathan Horowitz, Ph.D. – Psychologist Dr. Jonathan Horowitz is an anxiety disorder specialist who works with clients who face a range of challenges, including workplace issues, relationship problems, and difficult life transitions. Some have clinical anxiety disorders, such as Panic Disorder, OCD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Dr. Horowitz combines his expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches (CBT, ACT, ERP, and mindfulness) with warmth, authenticity, and a sense of humor. He completed his doctoral training at the University of Texas, and received specialized training in behavioral medicine (medical psychology) at the UCSD School of Medicine/VA San Diego. He also has a particular interest in workplace issues, and works as an executive assessment consultant for the Center for Creative Leadership. |

Rebecca holds a California CLAD Teaching Credential, is a certified CHADD parent-to-parent instructor, and is the San Francisco chair for the advocacy organization CHADD. Rebecca Robbins is an insightful, compassionate problem-solver who loves working with her diverse clientele of energetic, dynamic thinkers. psychiatrist that has 25 years of clinical experience with children,
adolescents and adults following his completing his medical studies at UCSF.
Dr. May specializes in performing psychiatric evaluations overthese years to help
patients determine their clinical options including various therapies as well
as medication. Dr. May has extensive experience evaluating child and adults for
Attention Deficit Disorder. Dr. May is an assistant clinical professor at UCLA
as well having taught at Stanford, UCLA. |

Bridget has clinical expertise and training in treating excessive worry and anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress, panic attacks, and phobias. Bridget has obtained her training at the International OCD Foundation's Behavior Therapy Training Institute, the La Jolla VA, and UCSD's OCD Clinic. | Ken Braslow, MD, APC, Psychiatrist Ken Braslow is board-certified in both child/adolescent and adult psychiatry and is a member of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Ken Braslow uses a therapeutic philosophy that custom tailors each treatment plan, taking into account an individual’s or family’s strengths and goals. He believes in combining high quality treatment with the virtues of old-fashioned care, and offers both medication management and psychotherapy for children, families, parents, and adults. He works with many children and adults with anxiety and offers warmth, caring, and understanding.
