In today's fast-paced world Stress has become a widespread and persistent challenge, impacting individuals from the moment they wake up, until long after they go to bed. Historically, the humans fight or flight response played a crucial role in survival, triggering an instinctive reaction to immediate threats such as predators or physical danger. However, while society has rapidly evolved, this biological system has remained largely ,unchanged. As a result, the brain often perceives modern stressors such as work deadlines, financial pressures, or interpersonal conflicts, as life threatening situations. This overstimulation activates the release of adrenaline and cortisol, flooding the body with stress hormones and keeping it in a heightened state of alertness, even when no actual danger is present.
When our fight or flight system is overstimulated our brain releases adrenaline and cortisol in our bloodstreams to prepare us for action. When these chemicals build up in our bloodstreams they can cause all manner of debilitating problems. Fortunately there is help. At the Bay Area Center for Anxiety we recognize the enormous impact of stress in our lives and work hard to help our clients reduce this silent killer. Using a combination of Eastern and Western philosophies and techniques, we can help you overcome your stress and give you control of your life and your health.
