Experiencing can have a profound and lasting effect on an individual's mental and emotional well-being.Whether resulting from a car accident, mugging, physical assault, war, rape, sexual abuse, or other forms of trauma, it all can cause post traumatic stress disorder. PTSD may leave individuals feeling fearful, angry, ashamed, and sometimes hopeless. After trauma we often feel vulnerable and can lose trust in others and the world at large.
Therapy for PTSD starts with creating a safe place for teens to talk about your struggle and eventually work on the trauma. We recognize that discussing trauma can be incredibly difficult, and for many individuals, it may feel like the last thing they want to do. At the Bay Area Center for Anxiety, we prioritize creating a safe, supportive environment where you can begin this process at their own pace. Unfortunately, the way to recover from trauma is to work through it and process it. The avoidance of thinking of or talking about the trauma is what reinforces PTSD symptoms and prolongs distress.
Fortunately there is effective treatment for PTSD. At the Bay Area Center for Anxiety we use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy, all of which are A rated treatments for PTSD. These therapies empower individuals to regain control, reduce distressing symptoms, and rebuild their lives with confidence and resilience. |
